1. What is Mental Health?

It is a component of having whole health. Mental health means to work to achieve mental well-being. The goal is to help people cope with life stressors, realize their abilities, learn and work well, and be contributing members to their community. 

2. What is Mental Health parity?

Being equal to benefits received for physical health conditions.The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (federal parity law) was enacted in 2008 and requires insurance coverage for mental health conditions, including substance use disorders, to be no more restrictive than insurance coverage for other medical conditions. Insurers and health plans have been able to comply with the more straightforward aspects of the law that relate to cost sharing and numerical limits on treatment (like annual inpatient day limits). 

3. What is Telehealth?

The use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, health administration, and public health.

 

4. What do I need to use telehealth services?

A stable internet connection with video connection, a scale or current weight, current height, and a blood pressure cuff or recent blood pressure. 

5. How long is the appointment?

Appointment times may vary depending on the patient however inital assessments are 60-90 minutes and reassessment and medication checks are 30-45 minutes.

6. Do you prescribe medication?

We prescribe most medications if the condition warrants.

7. Do you treat ADHD?

We treat ADHD with non-stimulants such as Atomoxetine, Qelbree, Focalin, etc.

8. Do you take health insurance?

Some insurances are accepted. Please contact us to verify if we are in your network. We also accept health savings account cards, all major credit cards, and other electronic payment such as Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal. Payment is due at the time of the visit. Please use the link before if you have commercial insurance. Please contact us if you have Medicaid insurance.

9.  What is a PMHNP/FNP?

A PMHNP is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Preactitioner. While this is not a medical doctor (MD), PMHNP can asseess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions. PMHNP's hold at least a Masters degree and some hold a doctorate degree. 

A FNP is a Family Nurse Practitioner. While this is not a medical doctor (MD), FNP can asseess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions. A FNP can see patient from age 0 and up. FNP's hold at least a Masters degree and some hold a doctorate degree. 

Dr. Tye is a dual-board certified Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner and she holds a doctorate degree.

9.  What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to miss or reschedule an appointment, please provide 24 hours notice. If you fail to provide 24 hours notice, you will be charged 75% of the visit. If you at more than 15 minutes late, we ask that you reschedule and you will be subject to pay 75% of the visit.

10. What ages does the practice see?

Children and adults ages 4 and up

11. Can we see a patient in a facility or at home?

Yes, in the Metro Atlanta area subject to availability.

12. Can I come in person?

Yes, in the Metro Atlanta area subject to availability.

13. Do you have evening and weekend appointments?

Yes, subject to availability.

14. Does psychiatric care eliminate the need for psychotherapy?

Psychiatric care may include medication but it does not replace psychotherapy. Often times, medication and therapy work together to get you to your best mental health.
